Byzantium in the West

Ravenna contains the finest collection of late Roman Art in Western Europe, and in Venice you can witness the footprint of Byzantium. The four day study tour will focus on the outstanding monuments of late Roman and  Byzantine art and architecture in the two cities

.The tour will include a day and a half   tour of the churches and mosaics of Ravenna, a visit to the abbey of S Maria Della Pomposa (frescos by the pupils of Giotto), an island hopping trip across the Lagoon from Chioggia to Venice, a visit to the Basilica of Saint Mark and Venice’s original cathedral at Torcello in the Northern lagoon. There will be one free day in Venice

 Two nights will be spent in Ravenna and two nights in the historic centre of Venice.

The cost will include four nights bed and breakfast, all transport to and from the airport the services of an art history guide, the  cost of boat travel across the lagoon and unlimited water bus travel in Venice

The cost will be £474 per person for two people sharing . Single persons supplement is £116. Predicted Flight Cost£ 150. Outward Flight from  Bristol .Return to  Bristol or Gatwick (for longer last day in Venice ) Opportunity to extend stay .
