The legacy of Moorish Spain

In the ninth century at a time when Western Europe was slowly emerging from the disorder and chaos that followed the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Arabs in Spain had already established a sophisticated civilisation whose legacy we will explore in this tour.


We will visit the three outstanding centres of Spanish Arab culture – Seville, Cordoba and Granada. In Seville we will visit the Alcazar palace- built in Moorish style for the Kings of Castille after the conquest of Seville in the thirteenth century- the Gothic cathedral( supposedly the largest Church building in the world by volume) and La Giralda the former Minaret of the Arab Mosque. In Cordoba we will visit the famous Mezquita – the huge ninth century Mosque now a Christian church-the Jewish quarter and synagogue and the ninth century city-palace complex of the Medina Alhazar just outside Cordoba. Our tour will finish at the magical Alhambra palace at Granada. There will be a free morning in Seville and a free day in Granada

We will spend two nights in Seville two nights in Cordoba and one night in Granada.

Costs include, five nights bed and breakfast, transfer to Luton, transfers to and from the  airport, coach travel between Seville, Cordoba and Granada and the services of experienced local guides.

Cost (exclusive of flights) will be £562 per person for two people sharing a twin bedded room and £97 single person supplement.

Predicted Flight costs £130. Flights(outward ) from Luton. Return to Bristol .
